My name is Maite. I was born Maria Teresa Dumlao Sarraga, but you probably know me as M.T. Sarraga because that’s what it says on my books.
That’s what I do—I write.
Of course, that's not all I do. In fact, I've been known to make some pretty fancy strokes with a paintbrush. I work with a pen and a stylus too but hey, who's counting? I also like to travel. Elsa, my bright blue pick-up truck and I have gone on many an adventure. But as far as my job description goes, I write stories for children. It’s the best job in the world!
I was born on February 11, 1989 in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines where I grew up and attended school. I’ve always loved to write. That eventually led to an English Language and Literature degree. Spelled out this way, my career path should have been obvious. It wasn’t.
It took me a while to figure out that I wanted to be a writer. Since 2010 I’ve worked a number of jobs. I’ve been a content developer at an SEO company, a virtual assistant at a publishing company, and, of all things, a beauty consultant at a grooming store for men.
In 2013 I was finally brave enough to go into writing. In January 2014 my cousin Francesca and I released our first book, What NOT to do at a Wedding.
I was born into a really big family and a lot of my stories are inspired by, and sometimes based on, the antics of my little cousins, nephews and nieces.
I currently live in the Philippines, in a palace by the sea.
